Method One: Create Your Own Ring Sizer

Materials Needed:

  • Printer and paper
  • String, yarn, floss, or a thin strip of paper
  • Pen or marker
  • Ruler

Steps:

  1. Begin by cutting a piece of string, yarn, floss, or a thin strip of paper to a minimum length of three inches.
  2. Gently wrap one end of the string around the base of the finger where the ring will be worn.
  3. Mark the point where the string overlaps with the rest using a pen or marker.
  4. Flatten out the string and use a ruler to measure the length between the end and the marked point in millimeters.
  5. Refer to the Ring Size Conversion Chart to match the millimeter measurement with the appropriate ring size.

Method Two: Print a Ring Sizer

Materials Needed:

  • Printer and paper
  • Scissors

Steps:

  1. Begin by printing the Printable Ring Sizer & Conversion Chart. Ensure that the page scaling is set to "100" in your print settings and use standard 8.5 x 11-inch paper.
  2. Cut out the ring sizer along with the slot as indicated on the printout.
  3. Place the paper ring sizer snugly around the base of the intended finger, ensuring that the numbers are visible. Insert the pointed end through the slit that you've cut.
  4. Take note of the number that aligns with the slit; this indicates your ring size. Keep in mind that quarter sizes are available if the sizer indicates you are between whole and half sizes.

Method Three: Measure an Existing Ring with Our Chart

  1. Print the Printable Ring Sizer & Conversion Chart with page scaling set to "100%" in your print settings. Use standard 8.5 x 11-inch paper.
  2. Cut out the ring sizer and the slit as directed on the printout.
  3. Place the paper ring sizer around the base of your intended finger, ensuring the numbers are visible. Insert the pointed end through the slit you created in the sizer.
  4. Record the number that aligns with the slit; this indicates your ring size. Quarter sizes are available if you fall between whole and half sizes, as indicated by the sizer.

DO

To get an accurate ring size measurement, it's best to measure towards the end of the day when your fingers are naturally at their largest.

Keep in mind the width of the ring band; wider bands may feel tighter than thinner ones, so you might want to go up a full size from your usual ring size.

DO NOT

Avoid measuring your ring size when your hands are cold, as they may have shrunk by half a size.

Additionally, refrain from testing your ring size after consuming alcohol or salty foods, as they can cause finger swelling.

Ring Size Chart

This chart is a valuable tool to help you find the perfect ring size.

Shopping for a gift? One effective method (though not always the simplest) is to borrow a ring worn on the same finger and use our downloadable Ring Size Guide to ascertain its size.

Ring Size Tips

  • Measure the hand you intend to wear the ring on, as dominant hands are typically slightly larger.

  • Consider the ring's design; wider bands will fit snugger. For chunky bands (>4mm), size up by at least half a size, and for thin designs (<1.3mm), size down accordingly. Remember that ring sizes are in millimeters, not inches.

  • Ensure your body temperature is normal, as fingers can shrink when cold and expand when warm.

  • Finger sizes fluctuate throughout the day based on hydration and meals, so measure towards the middle or end of the day for accuracy.

  • If you have a pronounced knuckle, measure both the knuckle and the base of the finger. Opt for a size in between these measurements for a comfortable fit that slips over the knuckle but isn't too loose or tight.
